This is a character app for :iconpkmn-knight-academy:

Name: Joseph Giovanna
Age: 18
Birthday: October 31st
Species: Raichu
Class: Warrior/Bannerman
Gender: Male
Weapon: Trident
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 145 lbs.

Personality: Joseph Giovanna is obsessed with the idea of being a great hero, perhaps taking a bit too much from the fantasy stories he's read and watched. He refers to others as "Sir" or "Ma'am," even if they tell him not to. When others ask why he names his attacks, he insists that it makes his moves stronger. He tries to befriend anyone that he meets, and would be willing to go out of his way to help someone, though sometimes it might end up backfiring. He also loves to talk as if he were in a theater, often using theatrical words in place of regular ones. So, don't be surprised if he says something that sounds a bit outlandish. He's also quite gullible, believing some pretty outlandish tales (like the one about his weapon). He can be kind of oblivious to some stuff too, failing to notice some obvious things like if something were happening 10 feet from him. He's also a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to training, often working himself to the point where he needs to use his weapon for support. He always states his reasoning behind this as, "Someone who strives to be great must work until he physically can't!" He's also pretty easily startled by things, so it would be a bad idea to sneak up on him... You might see him either jump out of fear, or see him a wee angry.

Weapon: Joseph's weapon is a steel trident that goes by the name "Trifecta." According to the story he was told by his cousin (who bought it for him as a birthday gift), it is a legendary weapon that belonged to a highly revered general of a great army. He was told that the weapon is blessed as well with the ability to grant immeasurable courage to its wielder. Unfortunately, that entire story is false. It's actually just a regular old trident that was bought at a discounted price. Don't tell him that though, as he might not want to believe that it's a false story.

Backstory: "So you wish to hear the tale of the soon-to-be-greatest warrior to ever walk the land of Tora? Wait... Don't walk away from me! Okay... I got your undivided attention now? Good!"

"I was born to a pretty average family. My father was a librarian, his head almost always buried in a book of some kind. My mother, on the other hand, was a guard for the city. In terms of personality, they were complete opposite ends of the spectrum. My mother was outgoing, strong, and courageous. My father on the other hand, was kind of a wimp to put it bluntly. Yet, they rarely ever argued. I guess opposites attract."

"Although I consider my childhood to be a fairly good one, one of the biggest downsides to it was that they never really spent that much time with me. My father was a bit of a workaholic, so he was always at his library's front desk rather than spending time with me. As for my mother, well it should be pretty obvious. She was always out on patrol and putting her life on the line for us to be safe. Even though both of them were usually too busy to spend a lot of time with me, they still had a positive impact on my life and helped shape me into what I am today."

"Because of my dad being a librarian, there were a lot of times when I was stuck at the library while he worked. This left me with plenty of books to read. I wound up drawing an interest to the fiction and fantasy stories of great heroes overcoming impossible odds. I got enthralled by these kinds of stories; the great acts of bravery and the endless rejoicing by the people made me idolize these characters. Heck, even my dad began to notice as I started to emulate these characters in my free time. He started to show me the non-fiction stories. The ones that depicted real heroes overcoming real strife. It struck a chord with me, as I began to realize that anyone can become a hero, all I had to do was set my mind to it."

"With my mother being a guard for the city, she had seen real action, from simple thieves to bandit raids. The times in which she did spend time with me, she told me a lot about what she experienced that day. Although I loved the characters from the stories I read, she was my true hero. She protected so many people and saw real action. Seeing her protect the innocent from would-be evil doers inspired me to be like that, but on a much grander scale!"

"By the time I turned fifteen, I had decided that being a hero in imagination land was not enough. I resolved to become the real deal! A hero that would be remembered in the annals of history! I had to start small however, and so I was stuck doing civilian jobs here and there in order to pay for any classes that would train me in the art of swordplay. I originally looked for trainers in the art of the blade, but as I wandered the town, I came across a man training with a trident. As I saw the way he trained with the weapon, I knew that a sword just wouldn't be for me."

"I approached the man to inquire about the weapon and what he was doing out in the open field. He told me that he was training alone since his pupil he was currently training had just informed him that he was going to stop showing up. He also introduced himself as Mark Freesis. A colorful individual, he was the kind of person who was enthusiastic about everything. Yet at the same time, he held an aura of maturity and authority. Taking interest in the weapon style of the trident, I asked him if I could become his new pupil."

"They were short classes, nothing too fancy. He showed me the proper ways to hold a trident, and some basics of the weapon. However, the most important thing he taught me was what it means to be truly great. That not only must I strive to learn something new every day, but also to acknowledge both my strengths and flaws. I use these words as something to live by, and in order to strive for my best, I chose to enroll here at Yarelts School of Protection. With a school named that, I'll be able to work my way towards my goal of protecting the innocent, and to become a great hero just like the four who basically made this school a reality! As for the reason of joining House Cobal... I actually just eenie-meeney-miney-moe'd it..."

Extra Fluff Info:
- He names all of his attacks. Like "El Thor" or "Overly Intricate Combo Attack" or "Big Tornado." All they really are is simply his pokemon attacks combined with his weapon style.
- He is a treasure chest of useless information, sometimes spouting random facts or trivia spontaneously in a conversation.
- Can be startled easily.
